I count myself very lucky to be published in France by Rivages/Noir. It’s a prestigious publishing house — they publish James Ellroy, Dennis Lehane, Daniel Woodrell, Patricia Highsmith, Donald Westlake, and many, many others — and, just like my American publisher Grove/Atlantic, they’re creative and cool and treat you like one of the family.
Last night I finally got to meet the founder of the imprint, the legendary Francois Guerif, and have dinner at his house in Paris. He and his lovely wife fed me well and perhaps got me a little drunk. He was nice enough to let me photograph him in his book room, which is a floor to ceiling room with a museum quality collection of amazing books.
